Khruangbin - So We Won't Forget
The second release from the upcoming album “Mordecai”, Khruangbin find themselves using more lyrics in their music. This is another beautifully written song from them. The title pretty much sums up what the song is about. Like the first single “Time (You & I), we can assume this song is about love or an experience. It does end on a somber note though, which I assume makes sense given the topic of the song. Mark Spears again proves his talents on the guitar with a beautiful sound. Take away the singing and his work almost serves as the voice of the music, which has been the case on past albums. The bass is funky and is nicely timed. Laura Lee seems to be at the forefront of their new album thus far. Her unique bass playing has always been a highlight of the band, but this time around she’s extending her range with her voice. Previous albums had maybe one or two songs with traditional lyrical structure, and here we have the first two singles written that way. Maybe it’s to showcase Lee’s talents or to provide some insight on what to expect on the new album. Either way, their sound is their own and I can’t wait for the new album.
